Mission
The
purpose of our organization has three components:
MENTORING - Mentor each other and younger women in the community
NETWORKING - Learn more about women in the community
SHARING INFORMATION - Help each other expand opportunities
The Professional Women's Network was founded in September, 1993. Elaine
Hansen and Jean Sumner were sharing information, over lunch, about their work
lives and learning from each other, when Jean said "we should do this with
more people next month you invite someone else to lunch and I will also invite
someone else to lunch and we can expand our network and learn from each
other."
From
these humble beginnings, the network has grown, one woman at a time, to more
than 300 members. It's survival is amazing since this is an all volunteer
organization, realizing we are all very busy, the organization was founded with
little structure. There are no attendance requirements and leadership roles are
voluntary and continue until someone else steps into the role. If you would like
to volunteer for a leadership role, please contact Elaine Hansen.
We look forward to seeing you at
one of our lunches, where we network, listen to a different speaker each month,
and share a noon meal together.
Lunch: Only $10. (The actual cost is slightly higher, but
PWN covers the difference.) You are welcome to come to as many lunches as you
wish, regardless of whether or not you are a member. Lunches are on Fridays,
generally the last Friday of the month (see list here), from noon to 1:30 pm at
the Holiday Inn in downtown Duluth (200 West First Street). Park in the Holiday
Inn ramp - parking for the duration of the lunch is free! For reservations,
please call (218) 724-0059, or via an email duluthpwn@msn.net.
Reservations help us be prepared for the right
number of people. Feel free to come even if you have not made a reservation,
however - we are always glad to see you.
Dues & Membership Forms: Member receive a Members
& Services Directory, and optionally receive a reminder via email or snail
mail each month about the upcoming lunch. It is still only $12 a year

has not changed. Thanks for your help!
